While flash inventory does technically make it to market, shadow inventory trades completely off-market. Shadow inventory includes new developments that developers can sell and are for sale but are not officially listed anywhere.

Compass Private Exclusives also make up a big part of shadow inventory. A private exclusive listing is an off-market home that can be shared by a Compass agent directly with their colleagues and their buyers. These listings are exclusive to Compass agents.
